University of Bonn

 

Founded 200 years ago, the University of Bonn belongs to Germany´s most recognized institutions for research and higher education. It is situated in the center of Europe and internationally renowned for top-level science, research-oriented study programs and its international flair.

The GEO-Wetlands related work is being coordinated and conducted by the Center for Remote Sensing of Land Surfaces (ZFL; https://www.zfl.uni-bonn.de/). ZFL is an interdisciplinary center of the University of Bonn dedicated to research and teaching in the fields of remote sensing, geoinformation sciences and spatial modelling. It was founded with the objective to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration within the University of Bonn and to foster research and teaching activities in its field. 

Role of University of Bonn within GEO-Wetlands:

Uni Bonn is involved in GEO-Wetlands related activities since 2013, first through supporting the conceptualization of a Global Wetland Observation System initiated by the Ramsar Convention. Since 2015 Uni Bonn is involved in the planning and foundation of the GEO-Wetlands Initiative. Since 2016, Adrian Strauch (Uni Bonn ZFL) is coordinating GEO-Wetlands as one of three initiative co-leads.
